2024 Grants for UU Ministers and Religious Educators

The Isles of Shoals Association Unitarian Universalist (ISAUU) Religious Professionals Grant Program provides funding for UU Religious Professionals and their families who have not yet attended a conference on Star Island. Our intent is to introduce you to Star Island conferences, to support your personal and professional relaxation and rejuvenation, and to promote Star Island with UU religious professionals and their congregations.

The original Unitarian Summer Meetings Association was founded in 1896 to host conferences at Star Island in the belief that gatherings of Unitarian laypeople and clergy would set the stage for personal renewal and inspiration as well as strengthening the Unitarian movement. The ISAUU still believes this a century later and the Religious Professionals Grants Program is an outgrowth of that vision.

The grants are open to members of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (UUMA) or Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) who are Parish or Community Ministers or Ministers of Religious Education, or Religious Educators serving congregations at 20 hours or more, and who have not yet been to Star Island and are not associated with official conference programming.

Star Island conference information can be found at www.starisland.org/programs. Registration opens in mid-January. Registration by January 31, 2024 is recommended for some conferences, including All Star I, All Star II, International Affairs, Life on a Star I, and Life on a Star II, since these conferences can fill up quickly. Deadline: The application deadline is January 31, 2024. Decisions will be communicated by February 15, 2024. Applications received after January 31, 2024 will be considered as long as grant money remains available. Award amounts can vary depending on the number of applicants in a given year.

PLEASE NOTE: The ISAUU Clergy Grants subsidize room and board expenses only and may not cover the entire room and board bill. Other conference costs that will be the responsibility of the Grant recipient include conference registration fees, parking at the dock in Portsmouth, and personal expenses incurred on island. Information can be obtained at www.starisland.org. Costs are listed on each conference page.
